Juan Manuel Cerundolo advances in the Rosario Challenger

Argentine tennis player Juan Manuel Cerundolo wins his match against Bolivian Juan Prado Angelo in the first round of the Rosario Challenger 125, advancing to the next round. Diego Schwartzman makes his debut tomorrow, on his path towards retirement.

The Argentine tennis player Juan Manuel Cerundolo (140°) advanced to the second round of the Challenger 125 in Rosario by defeating the Bolivian Juan Prado Angelo (291°) 6-4 and 5-7 at the start of the tournament. Meanwhile, the French player Alexandre Müller (58°), the second seed, was eliminated in the first round by the Brazilian Felipe Meligeni Alves (150°), and the Argentine Renzo Olivo (351°) fell to the Indian Sumit Nagal (105°).

Cerundolo claimed victory in a closely contested match that lasted over 90 minutes. In the first set, the Argentine broke his opponent's serve in the first game and managed to maintain the lead despite facing a break point in the fifth game. With a solid game, Cerundolo took the victory in the second set after a decisive game.

Felipe Meligeni Alves surprised by defeating Alexandre Müller in two sets and eliminating the second-seed in the first round. In an impeccable match, the Brazilian achieved important breaks in both sets to secure victory 6-4 and 6-4.

Renzo Olivo could not overcome the eighth seed Sumit Nagal and lost in three sets. After a closely contested first set that ended in favor of the Argentine, Nagal prevailed in the next two sets to take the victory 5-7, 6-1, and 6-0.

Tomorrow, Diego "Peque" Schwartzman (382°) will debut in the tournament facing his compatriot Camilo Ugo Carabelli (110°). Schwartzman, who announced his upcoming retirement, will seek to advance to the round of 16 in one of his final tournaments before the Argentina Open.

In other matches, Sebastián Báez (31°) will debut against the American Emilio Nava (215°), Francisco Comesania (87°) will face Juan Bautista Torres (277°), and Federico Coria (100°) will play against the Austrian Joel Schwaerzler (320°). Additionally, there will be matches between other Argentine players such as Thiago Tirante (126°), Guido Justo (427°), Román Burruchaga (131°), Juan Pablo Ficovich (183°), Marco Trungelliti (141°), Damir Dzumhur (89°), Facundo Mena (186°), Gustavo Heide (175°), Andrea Collarini (213°), and Dmitry Popko (197°).
